PCB Manufacturing & PCB Assembly

PCBA is the abbreviation for Printed Circuit Board Assembly. It refers to the entire manufacturing process where components are mounted onto a bare PCB through SMT (Surface Mounted Technology) and DIP (Dual In-line Package) insertion.   

Both SMT and DIP are methods for integrating components onto a PCB. The key difference is that SMT does not require drilling holes on the PCB, whereas DIP involves inserting component pins into pre-drilled holes.   

SMT (Surface Mounted Technology)

SMT is a surface-mounting technique that uses placement machines to mount miniature components onto a PCB. The production workflow includes: PCB positioning, solder paste printing, component placement via machine, reflow oven soldering, and final inspection.   

DIP (Dual In-line Package)

DIP refers to "component insertion," where larger components unsuitable for SMT are inserted into the PCB. The main production steps include: back adhesive application, component insertion, inspection, wave soldering, board cleaning, and final inspection.
